Bon Mot
Not much Simpsonian happening in these parts just now, owing to the fact that Ash and I welcomed our first born, Sloane, into the world on Saturday, 19 March. (Though wee Sloane's genetic Simpsons affinity has already emerged in her love of pacifiers. She even occasionally makes quite a Maggie-like slurp-slurp sound with 'em.)
Everything else you could possibly want to know about why our baby girl is the bestest baby girl ever can be found on Ash's blog.
In the meantime, I'll pass on a fine little turn of phrase I came up with in my sleep-deprived Sunday morning delirium, talking to our good friend Randy Niedzwiecki about being a supportive husband as we stood in the hallway outside the hospital room in which my wife was recovering from 20 hours of labour, a forceps delivery, and an episiotomy. It went something like this:
"The key to being a supportive husband is to be sufficiently sympathetic as to never draw overt attention to the fact that you're in no physical discomfort whatsoever at any point during the pregnancy or labour."

From The Archives
Once again the front page had gone eerily blank, and once again I grew fearful of alienating my reader. So I have ventured valiantly into the darkest recesses of the interweb, and I have miraculously found the Shift.com "Online Shrine" I wrote in 1998 that was my first detailed examination of the staggering depth and breadth of Simpsons fandom.
If not for this essay, there might never have been a Planet Simpson.
And anyhoo the front page of this here blog is no longer blank.
